Welcome to Computer Secure!
Computer security is getting a lot of press, both in print and on the Internet. There are a great number of "security" programs available today, but not all are good for you. Here. we have added a very brief set of programs which are set apart by their excellence in doing the job. There are different programs for different purposes. Notice that there is no bloat-ware mentioned here. Most bloat-ware comes as a suite of programs all wrapped together under one banner, or name. There are free programs and paid shareware or commercial programs. The paid programs are reasonably priced. All programs mentioned here are free of spyware and adware, and the trial versions are not crippled. Also mentioned are email lists for organizations which are security-centric. The lists are a valuable source of current threats and vulnerabilities. So, welcome. Please have a look around.

Getting Started
Computer security requires a number of protection programs nowadays. A good firewall is a must. A good antivirus program and anti-malware program is a must as well. If you are a power user you can also setup a filtering proxy server on your computer too. There are so many programs available to choose from these days. So which one is the best for you? Well, do you want an install and forget type of program, or one that you have some control over? What you will find at this site are programs that involve some user interaction.
What other programs are needed?
Program startup monitors and programs that tell you when important settings have changed (Counterspy, WinPatrol), usually without your knowledge. A program (e.g. Counterspy) that also shows you any new software starting up for the first time would be good too.
